Kill 'em, slash 'em, put em in a stew!

Back in January Dead Cells was finally given the Steam green light to open up for early access, and today is the day we finally get to play it. Motion Twin says they still have about 8-10 months before a full release and will be making additions tot he game based on player feedback. So, if you're into Castlevania, Metroid, Rogue Legacy, Salt and Sanctuary, Dark Souls or just love adventuring as a mashed up pile of cells, then this game may be for you.

Roguelike games are popping up all over, what excites you about this one?

This is a game where the creators are proud to acknowledge the inspiration for it's design, which come from some of my favorite games and shows. It has the area unlocking, by using new powers, element of Metroid as well as behavioral enemies that you can learn the pattern of, similar to how you survive in Dark Souls. Beautiful pixel art inspired from Castlevania which also lends to some great looking castle level design. But my excitement really boils down to the sheer number of gameplay elements they have mashed into one game, can they pull it all off is the real question.

What will it take for them to pull it off?

It's currently in early access and they have about 1/3 of the elements they want in it with the promise of 50% more bosses, weapons, enemies and map area. The animations, weight of the weapons and combat all look like they are in a good place right now, so it all falls on follow through for this team of 4 dudes. So far they are killing it... and thousands of enemies every minute.
